The Canary

56 × 76 cm
Colored pencil on paper

Created under constraint.
A missing color became part of the work.

Two familiar objects, held together.
Bold yellow and blue.

A piece about making, despite conditions.
And what emerges when you don’t resist them.

The Canary is the hero piece of the drop. It brings together two breakfast staples, positioned as familiar and immediate.

The name comes from the conditions it was created under. During the war, supply chains were disrupted, and a key color, Prismacolor 916, Canary Yellow, was unavailable.

Instead of waiting, the work shifted mid-process. A different yellow enters the piece, not as a compromise, but as a decision. The limitation became part of the outcome.

This work holds that tension. Creating within instability, while maintaining precision. A monument to making during adversity.

This piece took 67 hours and 56 minutes to complete, spread across several weeks.

This is a one-of-one original work. The only version that exists. Created with high-quality oil-based pencils on acid-free paper. The work depicts Israeli cultural icons through drawing, as part of an ongoing artistic exploration.

This work has no affiliation with any brand or company.
